State historical-architectural, landscape and natural museum-preserve «Izborsk»

Hundreds of people from Pskov and other areas came to Izborsk to say good-bye to the winter by the walls of the ancient fortress.

Visitors came from different parts of Russia: Moscow, St.Petersburg, Kemerovo, Rostov-on-Don, Kingisepp. There were also guests from Estonia, Latvia, Sweden… All in all over two thousand people gathered in Izborsk on March 13. 

There was a lot to see!

There were performances of Skaz Russian Folk Music Ensemble named after V. Rumiantsev in the Entertainment garden 

 and of The “Ochelye” Folk Music Ensemble. 

Those guestswho wanted to enjoy classical music came to listen to vocal chamber music performed by students of N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Pskov Regional Arts College. 

Children enjoyed sliding down the hill, learned archery and how to shoot a crossbow. Adults having taken a sip of a non-alcoholic beverage called Sbiten’ were singing along withA Russian Forest duet. 

The festivities ended with the traditional khorovod (Russian circle dance).

The administration of Izborsk State Museum-Reserve of History, Architecture and Land express gratitude to Skaz Russian Folk Music Ensemble named after V. Rumiantsev and Konstantin Ababkov, the Leader of the Ensemble; to the teachers and students of N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov Pskov Regional Arts College for their invaluable help in making this year’s Maslenitsa Festivities unforgettable.
