According to folk beliefs the Maslenitsa Talisman Doll was the guardian of good hearth, the symbol of prosperity and it promised the birth of healthy children. It was always kept near the entrance to the house. During the Maslenitsa (Pancake week) when a mother-in-law invited her son-in-law to her house to treat him to pancakes the doll was placed on the window sill. The bride and the groom would receive this talisman doll on entering their new house on the day of their wedding.

Every visitor to the exposition “Russian and Seto people, Common Land. Common history” in the merchant Shvedov’s House (Pechorskaya str., 32) will be able to make a Maslenitsa
