The festive opening of the exhibition “The Dear Ideal of Tatyana” was held in the Museum of History of the Town of Pechory. The exhibition featured unique lithographs by an outstanding graphic artist, Lidiya Timoshenko. The exhibition was dedicated to Tatyana’s Day which is widely celebrated in Russia. The event was attended by people living in Pechory and a number of notable guests of the town.

Opening the exhibition the curator of the collection, Olga Vasilyevathe head of the Funds and Research Department of Pskov Museum Reserve, mentioned one more important event:

Exactly 39 years ago the holy relicts of the martyr St. Tatiana were brought to The Pechory Cave Assumption Monastery where they were gratefully received by Father Ioann Krestyankin. We can consider St. Tatyana a holy patron of the monastery. Nothing happens by chance in this world.  I think that this coincidence of the dates will become a prognostication for the Museum of History of the town of Pechory to turn into a center of culture of this near border area,”  -she said.

The speech by Pskov art historian, Vladimit Galitskiy, became a real revelation for the numerous guests.

He not only talked about the history of the creation ofEugine Onegin – the immortal masterpiece by Pushkin butalso shared with the guests the details about the novelunknown to many. Vladimir Mikhailovich believes that “thisnovel has not lost its significance and is still very important for understanding Russian mentality and spirit”.

The ceremony was embellished  by schoolchildren from Mitkovitskaya school of Pechory District, who gave a marvelous performance dedicated to Alexander Pushkin.

The event ended traditionally with guests being  offered tea.  Everyone shared their impressions and opinions on how to develop the Museum of History of the Town of Pechory in the future. Someone came up with a suggestion to organize aliterature master class for schoolchildren of Pechory to continue the conversation about the moral values and Pushkin’s immortal novel. In order to do so they suggested inviting V. Galitskiy to conduct this master class.
