A questionnaire survey has been initiated by one of the most popular information portals in the North West of Russia entitled “Pskovaskaya Lenta Novovstey” («Pskov News Line») and is dedicated to its 15th anniversary.  The final list of the winners included 15 sights; however the complete list was twice as long. The list was headed by “The Holy Spirit’s Hill” (Opochka district). “The Castle’s Hill” located in the most remote Usvyaty District unexpectedly occupied the second place.

The third place was taken by Izborsk State Museum-Reserve of History, Architecture and Land (Pechory District) which is well known for the historical reenactment events “The Iron Town” and “Isaborg” held there annually. This unique cultural and historical complex is very popular among visitors from the Pskov Region and all over Russia.  Over 200 thousand people have come to Izborsk this year.

Surprisingly enough Pskov Kremlin and The Trinity Cathedral (Pskov), Alexander Pushkin Museum-Reserve (Pushkin Hills District) and Holy Assumption Pechory Cave Monastery (Pechory District) found themselves in the middle of the list, occupying the 8th, 9th and 10th places. The organizers of the survey are convinced that now the tour operators of the North West of Russia will have to reconsider the traditional travel itineraries.
