The Eight Festival of Early Medieval Culture “Isaborg” will take place in Izborsk on the  June 6th 2015.

The Festival is organized by: The Administration of the Pskov Region, The Russian Military Historical Society, The State Historical-architectural and Nature-landscape Museum-preserve Izborsk, The Center for Historical Projects «The Valour of Epochs», The Pskov Historical Re-enactment Club Usadba.

One hundred twenty "re-enactors" from Pskov, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novgorod, (Russia), Minsk (Belarus) and Tallinn (Estonia) will take part in the festival.

The main events of the festival will take place on the site of the ancient Truvor’s settlement and on the plateau above Gorodizhenskoye Lake.

This year the major event of the festival will be master classes in ancient crafts including medieval cooking and cuisine, pottery, bone carving, woodworking, belt plaiting, metal plate making for lamellar armour, cloth dyeing , leather treatment, shoe making and other crafts.

The festival programme:

12.00 - Opening of the historical camp on the ancient settlement site to visitors.

12.00-13.30 - The workings of the attractions, craft shops and other shops on the Truvor’s settlement site

14.00 – 14.30 Introductory parade of participants in the festival. The battle of squads (the demonstration of fighting techniques and skills) and a children’s battle.

15.00-17.30 - Open attractions including displays, the arts and craft shop and shops on the Truvor’s settlement site.

16.30 – 17.30 - A tournament.

17.30 –The official closing of the historical camp on the ancient settlement site to visitors
