State historical-architectural, landscape and natural museum-preserve «Izborsk»

On August 29, 2014 the ceremony of the opening of a memorial plaque, commemorating the 90th anniversary of an outstanding researcher, archaeologist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valentin Vasilyevich Sedov (1924 – 2004) was held in Izbiorsk.

The archeological expedition was working in Izborsk under the supervision of Valentin Sedov in 1971 – 1991.

The right to open the memorial plaque was given to the son of Valentin Sedov - Vladimir Valentinovich Sedov, a Doctor of Art History, an Associate Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the leading researcher of the Department of Slavonic-Russian archaeology of Russian Academy of Science Archaeology Institute.

At the opening ceremony speeches were said by:  Peter Gaidukov – a Doctor of Historical Science, an Associate Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Deputy Director of Russian Academy of Science Archaeology Institute, the head of Izborsk team of Pskov archaeological expedition supervised by  Valentin Sedov; Marina Kulakova - a Candidate of Historical Sciences, the Director of the Archaeological Center of the Pskov Region; Tatiana Zakurina – a Candidate of Historical Sciences, the Head of the Scientific-and-expert Department of the Archaeological Center of the Pskov Region; Boris Harlashov - a Candidate of Historical Sciences, a member of staff of Pskov Archaeological Center;  Aleksandr Mikhailov – the Head of the Department of on-site research and desk studies of the Archaeological Center of the Pskov Region, Nikolay Lopatin -  a Candidate of Historical Sciences, a member of staff of Russian Academy of Science Archaeology Institute.
