State historical-architectural, landscape and natural museum-preserve «Izborsk»

A practical training session “Networking: active communication and experience exchange” took place in Izborsk Museum Reserve on March 30. The event was organized in the framework of the project entitled “The Spirit of Nature” (“The promotion of nature objects as sources of energy and inspiration via history and new solutions” № LV-RU-019) of the Latvia – Russia Cross-border Cooperation Programme.

The main goal of the training session was the promotion of tourist potential of border areas and the creation of new tourist routes. The partners of the project – the Administration and museum professionals of Izborsk State Museum Reserve, the Administration of Lavrovskaya Volost’, representatives of private museums and households of Pechory District, Pskov Tourism Union.

The participants of the practical training session presented their objects of tourism infrastructure, exchanged their experience and advice in the sphere of promotion and planned new joint projects. At the end of the event all the objects of local tourism infrastructure were marked on the map in order to create a  tourist route in Pechory District that would encompass all of them.

A guided tour of Izborsk Museum Reserve was conducted for the participants of the event with the presentation of elements of improvement of the path leading to the Slavonic Springs. 

In the framework of the project “The Spirit of Nature” the tourist route has already been equipped with pavilions and benches and in the nearest future information stands will be put up there. A planked footway and a pier will be created near the Slavonic Springs.
