State historical-architectural, landscape and natural museum-preserve «Izborsk»

A new exhibition entitled "Fyodor Fyodorovich Tyutchev. An officer and a writer" will be opened in the Museum of History of Pechory on July 28.

This is already the second exhibition project implemented by Izborsk State Museum Reserve in cooperation with the State Memorial  History and Literature Museum Reserve of Fyodor Ivanovich Tyutchev "Ovstug"

Fyodor Fyodorovich Tyutchev, the eldest son of Russian poet Fyodor Ivanovich Tyutchev, was a military professional, who dedicated 35 years of his life to military career. He was a talented writer as well.

Most of his life he served in the Independent Corpse of the Fronteer Guard, took part in the Russian - Japanese and in the First World War. His military career determined in many aspects the  themes of his literary works.

Stories and novels dedicated to everyday life of officers and soldiers of the Russian army enjoyed recognition and  popularity. For many years  F. F. Tyutchev cooperated with St. Petersburg and Moscow newspapers and magazines, publushing in them prose works and front line correspondence.

The exhibition project will enable the visitors to get acquainted with the military and creative heritage of the son of the great poet: illustrations to his books, life time editions, that have long become rarities, illustrations to his prose books, publushed during recent decades, family photos.

The exhibition is open daily from 10.00 a.m. to 18.00 p.m.
