Congratulations on the coming Teacher’s Day! The Museum of History of Pechory invites everybody to attend the exhibition “First learn the alphabet and then study all the sciences”. 

                     

The exhibition is dedicated to the history of the development of education in the area from church schools to Pechory Gymnasium.

The exhibition features old textbooks dating back to the early 20th century to the period when Pechory was part of Estonia, school photos from the museum funds and personal archives of Pechory people. Every visitor will be able to learn what schoolchildren used to study at different time periods, what subjects were compulsory as well as to trace the history of the development of school textbooks.

All the visitors who decide to plunge into the school atmosphere of early 20th century will be able to do it solving mathematical tasks from textbooks published in 1940-s, using a blackboard and a chalk, a quill pen and paper, a piece of birch bark or a wax plaque.

The exhibition will open on October 3.
