State historical-architectural, landscape and natural museum-preserve «Izborsk»

An exhibition of woven fabric with traditional Seto patterns, created by a famous craftswoman Anna Kyivo will be opened in the Museum of History of Pechory on January, 24 at 12.00 p.m. (Pechory, Mazhdunarodnaya str. 6)

The exhibition features samples of patterns created by Anna Kyivo, a craftswoman acknowledged by Seto People to be a guardian of their traditional culture. Creating her patterns Anna Kyivo has been preserving ancient Seto People traditions putting her heart into her work.

Anna Kyivo has dedicated her life to making numerous woolen carpets and blankets, weaving sleeves for Seto shirts, special towels to decorate icons, headpieces and belts. Anna would always sing Leelo Seto People song while working.  

Three times Anna Kyivo received Anne Vabarna’s Award. For the third time it happened in 2015 in the nomination entitled Life’s Work.

The contribution of Anna Kyivo to the preservation of traditional Seto people crafts is hard to overestimate. In Setomaa – The Land of Seto - she is an acknowledged expert in weaving and a teacher who is always ready to pass on her skills to young people.
