State historical-architectural, landscape and natural museum-preserve «Izborsk»

All Russian cultural and educational action entitled The Night of Arts will take place in Izborsk State Museum Reserve and in the Museum of History of Pechory on November 3 and 4. The Night of Arts will be organized in the framework of celebrations dedicated to the National Unity Day. This year the motto of the action is “Art Unites People”.  

  The main events of the Night of Arts will take place in Izborsk on November, 3. An exhibition of paintings by the People’s Artist of the USSR Petr Pavlovich Ossovskiy (1925-2015), entitled The Glory of Pskov Land will be opened in the museum’s gallery “Izborsk Chamber of Russian Language and Orthodox Faith”. Pskov and Izborsk were the source of inspiration for the artist for over 50 years. Petr Pavlovich used to say: “Pskov and local people helped me to get a deeper understanding of Russian traditions and culture”.  

  Pskov and its vicinities were not only the source of inspiration for the artist; they became his life, as Petr Pavlovich says himself in the film “The Spirit of Izborsk”. 

  An exhibition of photos “St. Petersburg as Angels see it: from the roof of St. Isaak’s Cathedral” will open in Merchant’s Belyanin’s House at 15.30. In the photos taken from the colonnade of St. Isaak’s Cathedral visitors will be able to see a fantastic panorama of St. Petersburg during the White Nights Season. The authors of the photos, Evgeniy Gorokh and Evgeniy Mokhorev reflect the modern perception of the modern city leaving possibility for a different perception of St. Petersburg in the future.    

   This event will be followed by a concert of classical music that will begin at 16.00. Students of Pskov Regional College of Arts named after N.A.Rimskiy-Korsakov will perform music by Russian and West European composers.  

  An animated movie “The Fortress: By Shield and Sword” and a movie “Alexander Nevskiy” directed by Eisenshtain in 1938 will be demonstrated in Kolokol’naya Tower of Izborsk fortress.

The Museum of History of Pechory would like to invite everybody to take part in the museum events on November, 4 from 17.00 p.m. to 21.00 p.m.

  The guests of the museum will be able to visit the exhibition of silver decorations and traditional Seto People costumes entitled «Clinking of silver is like singing of Seto People» as well as the exhibition of paintings by an artist from St. Petersburg Ludmila Davidova “Pskov Land”.

The visitors will also be able to enjoy the program “Museum’s stories”, dedicated to the festive events, singing festivals that were taking place in Pechory in the first half of the 20th century and in recent years. They will learn the stories of several objects from the museum’s collection.

A children’s creative team will give a performance and get the visitors acquainted with the culture of Seto People. A pleasant surprise awaits the visitors: an animated movie “The Fortress: By Shield and Sword” (2015) will be demonstrated.
