State historical-architectural, landscape and natural museum-preserve «Izborsk»

On May 20 Izborsk State Museum Reserve will participate in the All Russia cultural action “The Night of Museums”, dedicated to the International Museum Day.

   A theatre performance by the Open Students Theatre “AHTheatre” will be one of the brightest events of the day.  A play based on Alexander Pushkin’s story “Mistress Into Maid” will be performed by the students and teachers of Pskov State University, as well as professional actors. The performance is directed by Tatiana Alexandrovna Komissarovskaya. The premiere of “Mistress Into Maid” took place at the International Festival of Youth Theatres in Mikhailovskoye. “Cordial, warm hearted and sincere…”, “with no pretentiousness or vanity”,- was the response of spectators about the play. 

  The year of 2017 has been declared as the Year of Ecology in Russia. “Captivating ecology” laboratory will start working in the Fireplace Hall of the Museum’s Blinnaya (Pancakes) Café at 18.00 p.m., where children and their parents will be able to take part in laboratory experiments, contests and master classes.  

  The programme of “The Night of Museums” also includes the opening of the exhibition of paintings created by O.V.Ustinova, a teacher of Pskov Regional College of Arts named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov and a master class in in making a card using monotyping technique.

  A traditional event, entitled "Donating to the Museum” will take place in Merchant Belyanin’s house. Izborsk people and the guests of Izborsk will be able to pass over to the museum their old family items.  

   It will be followed by a concert “We get inspiration from Nature and Love”. Songs based on poems of Russian XX-th century poets will be performed by Tatiana Lapteva, a teacher of Pskov Regional College of Arts named after N. Rimsky-Korsakov and a member of the Union of composers of Russia, and Daria Yablochkina, a student of Pskov Regional College of Arts named after N. Rimsky-Korsakov, assisted by accompanist Valeria Duniushkina.

One more concert will be given in the Museum of History of Pechory  by teachers of Pskov Regional College of Arts named after N. Rimsky-Korsakov and graduates of Petrozavodsk and Saratov Conservatories.   

    If you are willing to learn about the mysteries of ancient Izborsk we invite you to join the night tour of Izborsk fortress at 22.00 p.m.

  Films “Alexander Nevskiy” (1938 г.) and “Ivan the Terrible” (1944 г.) directed by S. Eisenstein will be demonstrated in Izborsk fortress from 20.00 p.m. to 24.00 p.m.

  On May 20 the Museum Reserve will be open from 10.00 a.m. to 24.00 p.m. The admission will be free from 18.00 p.m.
