The Museum of History of Pechory would like to invite everybody to attend the opening of the exhibition of graphics, created by artist Viive Noor. The exhibition entitled “The Tree of Love” will open on May 11 at 13.00.

The Tree of Love. What makes it grow, what is the source of its strength?

Noone knows.

People have encountered this phenomenon, tried to explain it, searched for an explanation in chemistry and physics, but it remains a mystery. It comes from nothing and feeds on nothing. It grows in secret gardens, away from random glances. Sometimes it grows gradually and secretly, sometimes a giant tree that covers half the world springs forth from a tiny seed, its crown stretching across state borders, linguistic barriers, not caring for the words of doubters or the considerations of a sober mind.

It cannot be shaped according to whims or consciously bred, it cannot be replanted or made to sprout somewhere else. Wonderful in its inexplicable beauty, eternal in the dreams of people.

Viive Noor is an illustrator, a graphic designer, the Head of the Department of book graphics in the Association of graphic designers of Estonia, Vice President of the International Council on Children's and Youth Literature in Estonia, an art historian and a curator of the Children’s Literature Center of Estonia. Her artistic works are part of collections of the National Library of Estonia, Children’s Literature Center of Estonia, The Museum of Photography of Hiroko Mori and Stasys in Japan and in many private collections in Estonia, Japan, Latvia, France, Finland, Germany, Russia and other countries.

The exhibition has been organized together with Pskov Chancery of Consulate General of Estonia in St Petersburg.

The meeting with the artist will take place in the museum on May 22-23.
