State historical-architectural, landscape and natural museum-preserve «Izborsk»

We would like to invite everyone to attend the opening of the exhibition of paintings by a famous artist from St.Petersburg Konstantin Kirillovich Ivanov. The exhibition is entitled “Building a temple in one’s soul” and will open on June 17 at 14.00 in merchant Belyanin’s house (Pechorkaya str., 39).  

Bringing his painting to Izborsk means coming back to the epic Russian place where Konstantin Kirillovich was making his first steps as an artist.  

Konstantin Kirillovich grew up in a religious family. He received a blessing to become an artist from a canonized starets of Pechory cave monastery, father Simeon (Zhelnin).  The artist graduated from Tavricheskaya Art School in Leningrad and I. Repin St. Petersburg State Academy Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. In 1975 he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR and later – a member of the Union of Artists of Russia.

Konstantin Ivanov has participated in numerous exhibitions in Russia and abroad. Over 10 personal exhibitions of the artist have been organized. He has been teaching and for a number of years was the director of Leningrad Secondary Art School. Konstantin Kirillovich is Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Union of Artists of St. Petersburg.

Konstantin Ivanov’s works of art (paintings, graphics, icons) are today part of museums’ and private collections in Russia and abroad.  He is a laureate of St. Petersburg State Award in the field of art, has been awarded the Golden medal of the Union of artists of Russia and has received numerous state and church awards. 

His art develops the themes of spirituality, morality and beauty of Russia, reminds about the tragic pages of its history. In his creative work the artist is striving for the beauty and fighting against evil and violence.
