7 June 2016

A summer ethno-cultural linguistic camp for children has opened in The Seto People’s Homestead Museum.

This year fifty schoolchildren from The New Izborsk Secondary School will be participants. The Seto People, few in number, are native to our area. Therefore, from June 6 to June 24 the school children will learn about the Seto language and culture. They will study traditional Seto People’s folklore and national dances as well as learn to cook dishes of their cuisine. The programme of the camp includes guided tours, interactive programmes, master classes and various games.

At the end of the camp’s period an exhibition “Summer Together with The Seto People” will be organized.

The participants of the camp will demonstrate their acquired knowledge by putting on a performance based on the motifs of The Seto People’s national fairytales. Children will take part in Kirmash Festivities, which will be held on June 20 at 13.00 in The Seto People’s Homestead Museum.
