State historical-architectural, landscape and natural museum-preserve «Izborsk»

  The annual global action “The Night of Museums” was held on May 21 in Izborsk State Museum-Reserve of History, Architecture and Land.

The exhibition of drawings, entitled «The very smoke of one's homeland is sweet ….», by Konstantin Zinin, a teacher of Pskov Regional College of Arts named after N. Rimsky-Korsakov, a member of Moscow Artists Union, was opened in  Merchant Belyanin’s house (Pechorskaya str., 39).

This event was followed by a concert of 11th-20th century chamber and vocal music performed by students and teachers of Pskov Regional College of Arts named after N. Rimsky-Korsakov.  

   

The traditional action "Donating to the Museum” took place in the framework of the event. 51 items became part of the museum’s fund. The main gifts were: a necklace consisting of silver coins from the families of Bordovskaya Larisa Valentinovna and Bobrov Juriy Grigoryevich (St. Petersburg), a bust of Ordin-Naschokin from sculptor Golubev Igor’ Vladimirovich (Belorussia), numerous objects from Cherkasov Sergey Borisovich, such as a silver spoon, military uniform dating back to 1960-s – 70-s and a tablecloth. The Bugrovs family donated to the museum a ceramic pot which they had discovered in their garden.

For the first time a vintage style display took place in the Entertainment garden. The visitors of the museum had a chance to see over 20 garments which date back to 1960-s, 1970-s and 1980-s. They are part of the museum's collection. The event was held with the assistance of the students of Pechory School №3 and Pechory Linguistics Gymnasium № 2.

A game “An Izborsk house and everything inside” was organized for children and adults in merchant Shvedov’s house. Late 19th century riddles evoked great interest among the visitors.

 

Everyone was able to play a game “Travelling from Izborsk to Tsargrad” learning about ancient towns.  

A concert held in the Entertainment garden was one of the brightest events of the day. 

“Alexander Nevskiy” film, directed by Sergei Eisenstein (1938) was demonstrated in the evening in Izborsk fortress in Kolokol’naya tower. 

Guided tours in Izborsk fortress and museum’s exhibitions were organized for the guests.

Entrance for visitors was free on this day. All in all 10 events visited by over 1000 people were organized in the framework of “The Night of Museums” action.
